The New Face of Keratin: Eliminate Frizz Without Sacrificing Volume

8/2/2013 1:30:00 PM by Megan Cahn

I've always had a problem with frizz—especially in these humid summer months. When the temps rise my hair shows a wild side that even my arsenal of serums, oils, and anti-frizz balms often can't tame. I've gone down the keratin treatment road a few times, and it certainly gets rid of the poofiness and flyaways that drive me crazy. But the smoothing treatment has left my hair limp and lackluster, removing frizz yes, but also any hint of volume and body. Plus, anything that could contain formaldehyde is probably best to steer clear of, right?

So when I heard about Julien Farel's newest hair remedy, the Zero Frizz Quickie, a formaldehyde-free, anti-humidity treatment that smoothes out frizz without the stinging eyes and harsh chemical smells of a keratin treatment, I was instantly game. So I stopped by one of their NYC salons and left an hour later (one fourth of the time of a keratin treatment) with smooth-as-can-be hair that actually still had body. The realization I didn't have to sacrifice my waves to get rid of frizz was like the moment I discovered Ben & Jerry's made Half Baked in frozen yogurt. Anyway…that good.

The secret weapon behind naturally getting rid of frizz but keeping body is the brand's hero product, Zero Frizz Restore, and the anti-aging technology that Julien Farel spent years developing. The Zero Frizz haircare line, which I have been using since I got the treatment, was designed specifically for frizzy hair, whether curly, wavy, straight, or somewhere in-between like me.

The treatment, which lasts six to eight weeks is available for $200 (one fourth of the cost of a keratin treatment too) in any of Julien Farel's NYC salons—a city that is definitely filled with women fighting that humidity-induced frizz. You can learn more about the products and book an appointment at julienfarel.com.
