Adrianne Palicki, the star of the blockbuster G.I. Joe: Retaliation is certainly one to watch. Not only is the gorgeous Toledo, OH, native extremely down to earth, but she also kicks some major butt as Lady Jaye on the big screen. To celebrate the film's DVD and Blu-ray release we caught up with the actress for a quick chat about her boys, her bod, and her beauty tip that calls for hemorrhoid cream.

Real Beauty: Your character in G.I. Joe: Retaliation is seriously tough. There must have been some intense fitness training that went into nailing that role?
Adrianne Palicki: Tell me about it! A month-and-a-half before we shipped out, I started working with a personal trainer, Bobby Strong. When we got to New Orleans we were on a very strict program of training for eight hours a day for a month. We worked with Navy SEALS to learn how to hold guns, clear a room, run like them, move, all that stuff. Then we worked with our stunt doubles and did fitness training.

RB: That sounds like a killer workout each day.
AP: Oh, it was! There were moments where I would come back to the hotel room and I would just cry, 'I have to do this again tomorrow?! And the next day?!' But once we started shooting, it was awesome because it was so handy. We didn't even have to think about what we were doing and we were able to focus on the acting portion of it. I'm starting training now for the next one—I'm not going to do it all in a month again—I'm going to go in really prepared!

RB: Is there a scene that you look back on and are really happy with how it turned out?
AP: One scene Jon Chu and I both fought for because we almost didn't have time to do it was the sequence where Lady Jaye gets into a fight in a stairwell with a soldier. I really wanted something like that for her because you get to see all the other guys get into these fights. You just have to see the token girl kick ass. It was fun to get to do our own stunts, we got to do a lot of them. I think all of us got hurt at some point.

RB: What was it like working with an almost all male cast?
AP: It was fun. I grew up with a big brother, so you just sort of fall into pattern with the guys. When you're out in the middle of the desert sweating, you see things, you hear things. It's like, "Okay, we're going to be best friends. We have to be best friends." It was definitely a boys' club, but thankfully they let me into it.

RB: As someone who hasn't shied away from dyeing her hair for a role, are there any looks you'd never try?
AP: Here's the thing, I would probably shave my head for a role if it was worth it. As far as looks go, I think I'm pretty willing to do anything. Well, I don't think I would shave my eyebrows for fear that they would never grow back.

RB: When you're on set or traveling to promote a film, are there any beauty products you always take with you?
AP: I'm pretty simple, but my skin gets really dry, especially when I'm traveling, so I always have some sort of shea butter or baby oil with me, and lip balm.

RB: Are there any beauty tips or tricks you swear by?
AP: I drink tons of water to try to keep myself hydrated and my skin glowing. And for circles under my eyes, I have been known on set to use hemorrhoid cream—it does work. I've actually had makeup artists put it on me. But generally, I think natural is better—I really do believe that less is more. I love seeing women like that, especially young women. You don't need to wear tons of caked-on makeup.
